“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

A place built to honor service, sacrifice, and the quiet courage of those who stood for something greater than themselves.

The David Dewett Veterans Memorial Wayside offers a space of reflection for travelers, families, and community members. Here, three flagpoles rise above the landscape, surrounded by inscribed granite pedestals and hundreds of personalized paver bricks — each one carrying a name, a story, a legacy.

Visitors will find places to pause: benches, picnic tables, and thoughtful tributes including the Blue Star and Gold Star Memorial Highway markers, a POW/MIA dedication, and the solemn Battlefield Cross.

This is a wayside created through community devotion — a living testament to the men and women who served, and to those who continue to carry their memory forward.

Whether you stop for a moment or stay awhile, may this place offer you a sense of gratitude, grounding, and connection.
